Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager Trainee to join our team at General Parts Distribution LLC. As a General Manager Trainee, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, leading and developing a team of store employees, and achieving sales and service objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide GAS3 Selling Experience: Deliver a world-class customer experience by providing DIY and professional customers with expert advice and solutions.
  • Lead and Develop Store Employees: Provide leadership and developmental coaching to store team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
  • Achieve Sales and Service Objectives: Meet or exceed personal and store sales goals and service objectives.
  • Manage DIY Services: Ensure high standards of customer service, including prompt handling of any complaints, and manage DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installs.
  • Understand Levers to Impact P&L: Analyze and understand the key drivers of profitability and make data-driven decisions to impact the bottom line.
  • Manager on Duty Responsibilities: Provide leadership and support to store employees during manager on duty shifts, including coaching, issue resolution, and floor management.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Assist with Commercial Delivery Program: Assist in backing up operations of the commercial delivery program to ensure seamless execution.
  • Provide DIY Services: Provide DIY services, including battery installation, testing, and wiper installs, to customers.

  • Parts and Automotive System Knowledge: Possess a strong knowledge of parts and automotive systems.
  • ASE P2 Certified or Equivalent: Hold ASE P2 certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to Execute and Train Advanced Solutions: Execute and train advanced solutions, project, and product quality recommendations.
  • Ability to Source from Multiple Places: Source parts from multiple places, including special order, FDO, second source, etc.
  • Ability to Execute and Train Store Operational Processes: Execute and train store operational processes and procedures, including testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
  • Ability to Execute and Train Inventory Systems: Execute and train inventory systems and store equipment.
  • Ability to Execute and Train POS and Parts Lookup Systems: Execute and train POS and parts lookup systems.
  • Ability to Review and Analyze P&L Statement: Review and analyze the profit and loss statement to inform business decisions.
Essential Job Skills
  • Working Knowledge of Automotive Systems: Possess a working knowledge of automotive systems.
  • Speak and Write English: Speak and write English fluently, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers, and upper management.
  • Use Microsoft Software Effectively: Use Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, effectively to manage store operations and analyze data.
  • Calculate Figures and Amounts: Calculate figures and amounts, including discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent.
  • Review and Analyze Business Reports: Review and analyze business reports, including the profit and loss statement, to inform business decisions.
  • Hold Others Accountable: Hold others accountable for their performance and provide feedback to inspire improvement.
  • Ability to Work Assorted Days and Hours: Work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed to meet business demands.
Prior Experience
  • 2-3 Years of Experience Managing a Team: Possess 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 employees in a fast-paced and dynamic retail environment.
  • Successful Experience Managing Profitability: Demonstrate successful experience managing profitability and making data-driven decisions to impact the bottom line.
Certifications and Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Hold a high school diploma or equivalent, with a Bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred.
  • ASE Certification: Possess ASE certification, preferred but not required.
