About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Victorian Planning and Connections team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development of advanced analysis for assessments of renewable energy generation, battery, and storage systems, as well as other new technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and review studies for generator connections using PSSE, PSCAD, and other simulation tools.
  • Undertake complex PSSE and PSCAD studies on generator connection projects.
  • Develop a coordinated vision and framework for the integration of various generation and storage technologies into the National Electricity Market.
  • Work with stakeholders and the broader energy industry to develop innovative approaches for the technical assessment of new technologies and their impact on the power system.
  • Lead generator connection projects and conceptualise, develop, and implement solutions to technical problems.
  • Engage with original equipment manufacturers to understand innovation in technology, including grid forming and new technology for the NEM.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in power systems analysis and engineering, with expertise in electrical power system dynamics and stability concepts and assessment techniques.
  • Experience in modelling generator and power system behaviour, resolving generator and system performance issues, and providing technical solutions.
  • Experience with new generation grid connections (Wind, Solar, Batteries, Synchronous) and power systems analysis simulation applications such as PSCAD, PSSE V32-V34, DIgSILENT, PowerFactory.
  • Awareness of key commercial and legal issues impacting large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Electricity industry and regulatory understanding, particularly generator technical requirements.
  • Experience in client-facing roles requiring well-developed interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
