Overview

We are seeking skilled professionals to join our Mental Health Clinician team in Queensland’s correctional centres. As a member of this team, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary approach delivering clinical services that support mental health and wellbeing.

Job Description

Mental Health Clinicians play a crucial role in assessing and providing interventions for individuals within the correctional system. Your expertise will enable you to conduct risk assessments, deliver psychoeducation, and run skill-building interventions.

You will work closely with colleagues and individuals in custody, utilising your excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective collaboration and communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent risk assessments of harm to self or others, including acute or chronic risk
  • Provide psychoeducation related to mental health conditions, symptoms, and treatment options to individuals
  • Deliver individual or group-based skill acquisition focused interventions aimed at developing coping skills and building resilience
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and contemporary understanding of psychopathology, diagnostic classification systems, and clinical and psychometric assessment tools
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy
  • Experience working in a mental health or corrections setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
