Deputy Principal Legal Officer Role

This is a newly created leadership position that offers the opportunity to develop your leadership capabilities and career development plan by working closely with a senior legal officer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering High-Quality Legal Advice and Representation
  • Providing trauma-informed support in areas including child protection, family law, and other complex matters
  • Supervising and mentoring a team of solicitors on performance reviews, professional development, and onboarding
  • Acting as the lead legal officer during periods of absence
  • Liaising with stakeholders to strengthen relationships with the legal, government, and community sectors
  • Contributing to internal strategy, compliance, risk management, and funding reporting processes

The ideal candidate will be a people-centred leader who builds strong relationships, fosters trust, and creates clarity in changing situations.

This role requires a high degree of autonomy, discretion, and expertise in legal matters. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

The Deputy Principal Legal Officer will play a key role in shaping the legal direction of the organization and will be responsible for ensuring that all legal advice and guidance is provided in a timely and effective manner.
