Community Engagement Specialist

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team responsible for driving effective engagement with communities and stakeholders impacted by our infrastructure projects.

You will coordinate a team to plan and implement best-practice engagement strategies, manage our social licence to operate and reputation, and oversee targeted and strategic project engagement planning and implementation.

Your Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading the team in identifying and managing reputation risk associated with high-risk and/or high-profile projects;
  • Oversight of project engagement planning and implementation;
  • Driving the effective identification, assessment, and mitigation of risk associated with our capital program from an engagement and communications perspective;
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of communications strategies and processes;
  • Liaising with senior executives to identify and manage project engagement risks and opportunities; and
  • Coordinating government liaison activities on matters associated with our capital program.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly skilled engagement professional with experience working on high-risk/profile projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience managing and developing a team;
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder or community engagement within a complex technical organisation;
  • Proven skills developing, coordinating, and supporting contemporary engagement aligned with best practice standards on high-risk and/or high-profile projects;
  • Experience monitoring the business, political, and regulatory environment for potential issues associated with project delivery;
  • Proven skills liaising effectively with media and strong skills in identification of media opportunities associated with projects to improve reputation and profile;
  • Ability to critically review prepared written communication for various purposes, including media material, project briefs, speeches, presentations, and internal reports; and
  • Experience managing public engagement forums or similar activities, as needed.
