About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our Cell Engineering Team at Babraham Research Campus Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in advancing our portfolio of therapeutics for female reproductive health using our cutting-edge drug discovery platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop physiologically relevant models for the discovery and validation of novel drug targets for female reproductive conditions with high unmet need.
  • Validate cell lines for use in drug discovery and design and validate assays to measure cell line functionality.
  • Generate and validate lentiviral particles for cell engineering and design and generate genetically modified cell lines and lentiviral particles using CRISPR/Cas9.
  • Design and generate lentiviral libraries for CRISPR screenings and maintain excellent record keeping of all research activities.
  • Write patents, publications, and deliver progress reports to the VP, Research & Development.
Requirements
  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field.
  • Postdoctoral experience in a relevant discipline or 3+ years of experience in academia or industry (post PhD).
  • Interest in women's reproductive health research and therapeutic development.
  • Proven ability to work productively, independently, and within a team.
  • Track record of independent publications and/or patent submission as a first author.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in generating lentivirus and lentivirus libraries for cell engineering and gene editing.
  • Experience in generating cell lines using lenti and/or CRISPR/Cas9.
  • gRNA design and vector design.
  • Antibody-based/fluorochrome sorting and analysis using flow cytometry.
  • Transfection methods, especially with difficult-to-transfect or primary cells.
  • Western blotting, ELISA, qPCR, and ddPCR.
  • Gene expression assays, functional assays, and cell-based assay development.
  • Genomic and transcriptomic analysis.
  • High-content imaging and analysis.
