About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Fitter to join our team at UGL's heavy maintenance facility in Perth. As an Electrical Fitter, you will be responsible for the overhaul of Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) and Locomotive components, including wheel motors, alternators, traction motors, cartridges, blower, and radiator fans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, inspect, requalify, and assemble HME/Locomotive components
  • Measure and inspect critical journals/bores
  • Brazing and insulating cable and winding joints
  • Requalification inspections of bearings and pinions
  • Acceptance no-load testing components, including vibration analysis
  • Ensure active involvement in Lean practices
  • A strong commitment to maintaining a safety environment
  • Engagement and commitment to UGL's OneHSE culture
  • Extensive in-house training provided

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A relevant trade qualification as an Electrical Fitter, Electrical Machine Repair, or equivalent
  • Experience in the overhaul of AC and DC traction motors
  • Experience in overhaul of alternators and/or rotating electrical equipment
  • Sound Electrical and Mechanical experience required
  • Experience in similar roles working on GE or EMD motor and associated equipment is highly regarded
  • A high level of measuring skills and eye for detail and quality standards
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • A willingness to learn
