We are seeking a Senior Packaging Design Engineer with specialist expertise in packaging design to join our operations team.
This role combines hands-on problem-solving with engineering design principles to develop innovative packaging solutions for heavy-duty, non-standard products.
The successful candidate will engineer packaging solutions for uniquely shaped, oversized, or heavy products in a metal fabrication / automotive / industrial equipment environment.
- Design and prototype packaging using CAD tools, incorporating structural integrity, material efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with warehouse, dispatch, and quality teams to integrate packaging into production and logistics workflows.
- Solve real-world challenges such as awkward dimensions, sharp edges, weight distribution, and load stability.
- Conduct testing and validation of packaging designs to ensure compliance with safety, freight, and customer requirements.
As a Senior Packaging Design Engineer, you will combine mechanical engineering expertise with a practical, hands-on approach. You can translate technical requirements into packaging designs that protect products, streamline logistics, and enhance customer experience.
You will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience in packaging design, preferably in heavy manufacturing, automotive, or industrial equipment sectors.
- Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
- Knowledge of packaging materials, load testing, and freight preparation standards.
- Ability to problem-solve under tight deadlines with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
