Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Specialist to join our team at Uniting. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in driving financial accuracy and efficiency within our organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce timely and accurate financial information for analysis and business decisions.
  • Support the Accounting Team Leader with month-end close processes, corporate recharges, revenue recognition, accruals, and contribute to year-end schedules and analysis for external audits.
  • Assist the Accounting Team Leader with various financial excellence projects, including revamping procedural documentation for the division.
  • Prepare yearly, bi-annual, and quarterly acquittals, as well as liaise with auditors regarding relevant audits.
  • Establish standard operating procedures around revenue recognition and ad-hoc business queries.
  • Develop stakeholder relationships within the Finance and Strategy and business, matching expectations with the GL Reporting team performance.
  • Provide collection of relevant data to assist with budgeting and forecasting, the operation of the team, and production of regular reports.
  • Conduct specialised studies as required, providing insights into the operation of the team and the organisation.

Requirements

  • 5 years' experience in a similar finance role, ideally within the Aged Care or Family Services sector.
  • Tertiary qualification to bachelor degree level in Finance/Accounting and professional qualification in CPA/CA.
  • Additional post-graduate qualifications such as Information Systems, Business Administration, or Masters in Finance/Accounting are desirable.
  • Proven skills in building new processes and managing transformation to a shared services transaction processing environment, knowledge of best practices and productivity-based approaches to general ledger processing and maintenance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of shared service functions, recharges, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Excellent skills in the operation of accounting software, Microsoft Office Apps, analytical and report writing applications, and analytical tools.
  • Highly developed communication and relationship-building skills to ensure optimum information flow within the Finance and Strategy team and senior Management.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to investigate compliance matters, variances on the monthly P&L result, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft D365 preferred.
  • Experience in automation of manual processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of procedural documentation.
  • Strong understanding of recharging costs, accruals, and revenue recognition.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems as used in large-scale service environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, be organised, systematic, thorough, accurate, and disciplined.
