Architect of Strategic Solutions

The role of Architect of Strategic Solutions is pivotal within a company's Corporate Technology team, responsible for evaluating business needs and determining how IT can support those needs through software, hardware, or infrastructure.

This position plays a strategic role in making architectural decisions that align with both project scope and overall IT strategy. Additionally, the Architect of Strategic Solutions will contribute to the development and maintenance of IT group standards and governance.

  • Contribute to the creation of Corporate Technology's IT strategy by identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Align the IT strategy with the organisation's goals for the next 3 years, ensuring synergy between business objectives and technological capabilities.
  • Translate business, functional and non-functional requirements into solution designs and ensure alignment with customer expectations.
  • Provide guidance and direction for implementing 'best practices'.
  • Identify potential solution options, enhancements, and recommendations that leverage technology to drive business success.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Considerable knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of software and infrastructure solutions across a large environment, including cloud-based solutions.
  • Strong ability to identify opportunities and inefficiencies in IT infrastructure and propose innovative solutions.
  • Experience in infrastructure and network solution design, including the migration and implementation of cloud-based solutions.
  • Knowledge of the challenges of remote sites, specifically remote mining sites, and the ability to design solutions that address these challenges.
  • Experience designing, migrating and implementing cloud-based solutions with Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong background in enterprise solution architecture, with experience in finance and HR business processes and technologies.
  • Safety-first mindset.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in the IT sector is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Experience implementing and use of Infrastructure as a Service (AWS) is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity and commitment to the principles of best practice are highly valued.
