Mental Health Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Nurse to join our team at Prospero Health & Social Care. As a key member of our mental health team, you will provide high-quality care and support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, promoting recovery and wellbeing in a therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough mental health assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with clients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Deliver Evidence-Based Interventions: Deliver evidence-based nursing interventions and therapeutic interventions to support clients in achieving their recovery goals.
- Monitor Client Safety: Monitor clients' mental health status, including assessment of risk factors and implementation of appropriate interventions to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
- Medication Management: Administer psychiatric medications and monitor their effects, providing education and support to clients and their families about medication management and side effects.
- Therapeutic Activities: Facilitate group therapy sessions, psychoeducation programs, and other therapeutic activities to enhance clients' coping skills and social support networks.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and maintain comprehensive clinical records in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with community mental health services, primary care providers, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless transitions of care and support continuity of treatment for clients.
- Registered Nurse Qualification: Registered Nurse qualification with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Postgraduate Qualification: Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or relevant specialty highly desirable.
- Experience in Mental Health: Minimum of 3 years' experience working as a Mental Health Nurse in an acute mental health setting.
- Clinical Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of mental health assessment tools, psychiatric disorders, and evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong clinical skills in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and risk assessment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build therapeutic relationships and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
