Job Overview

SGS is seeking a skilled Coal Technician to join our team. This role's primary responsibility is to ensure the timely and high-quality sampling, preparation, and analysis of samples for both internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accuracy, precision, and traceability of prepared samples.
  • Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with the calibration of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain a safety-aware environment.
  • Follow routine and non-routine sampling instructions under supervision.
  • Perform all duties as per your Industrial Agreement classification, including: Sampling, Collection, Preparation, Analysis, Reporting, and Validation of samples from automatic sample stations, and other samples, as required.
  • Other tasks and duties, as required and as directed by supervisor or management.

Requirements:

  • Coal sampling, preparation, and testing experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a general mineral laboratory environment preferred.
  • Successful completion of Year 10 secondary education with a science background or equivalent (preferred).
  • Progress towards or completion of relevant higher formal qualifications preferred.
  • Good computer skills, with Excel beneficial.
  • Completion of a numeracy, writing, and comprehension test.
  • Current full driver's license (green P plates by approval).
