Project Engineer

The Project Engineer will oversee all stages of the project life cycle, from preliminary planning and procurement to construction, commissioning, and handover of MEI systems.

This role coordinates on-site engineering functions for allocated Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) packages to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient support for construction activities.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Procurement: Manage the successful delivery of ITS works and other MEI engineering functions from the procurement tender process, evaluation of tenders, execution of contracts, and delivery.
  • System Design and Engineering: Review design documents and outcomes to ensure SPARK meets project-specific requirements, codes, and regulations while remaining efficient and within specified budgets.
  • Delivery & Project Management: Develop and submit construction/commissioning work packs in conjunction with subcontractors' scope of works, manage subcontractor resources, timelines to meet client expectations and project objectives.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Drive subcontractor completion of digital quality records (ITR/ITP etc) in a timely fashion, interpret and apply relevant codes, standards, and regulations to ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with professional engineering registration or equivalent.
  • Over 10 years of experience in managing industrial electrical and communication systems, with a strong portfolio of successful large-scale infrastructure project deliveries.
  • Expert knowledge of Australian Standards, codes, and best practices related to electrical systems, particularly in tunnel and urban infrastructure contexts.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management excellence, with a track record of leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve project milestones and objectives.
