This Digital Preservation Technical Analyst position requires a deep understanding of digital preservation strategies and techniques. The successful candidate will work closely with a team to develop and implement procedures and workflows for the ingest and management of digital assets in a digital preservation system.
The role involves:
- Providing expert technical advice on digital preservation strategies for legacy and contemporary digital collections.
- Working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to develop procedures and workflows for the ongoing stewardship of digital heritage collections.
- Developing and implementing ingest and migration workflows, including writing and executing simple scripts in accordance with application development standards.
- Preparing reports that document digital preservation decisions and contributing to the continuous improvement of business rules, procedures, and policies for acquiring, managing, and preserving digital collections.
- Supporting the development of digital preservation capacity in the organization by identifying development needs and opportunities, and contributing to training programs.
- Maintaining strong collaborative working relationships with business units, vendors, and key stakeholders.
- Staying up-to-date with current and emerging developments in digital preservation theory and practice through self-directed professional reading and active participation in professional networks.
