Vacancy for Digital Preservation Technical Analyst at State Library of South Australia

The Digital Preservation Technical Analyst role provides technical expertise and advice on digital preservation strategies for legacy and contemporary digital collections. This position contributes to the ingest and management of digital assets in the Library's digital preservation system.
Key Responsibilities:- Utilize a wide range of hardware and software systems to analyze and identify data types, file formats, and their dependencies.
- Undertake research and problem-solving to provide expert advice in the technical assessment, extraction, migration, and/or emulation of digital collections.
- Develop and implement workflows, including writing and executing simple scripts in accordance with the Library's application development standards.
- Prepare reports documenting digital preservation decisions and contribute to continuous improvement of business rules, procedures, and policies.
- Collaborate with the Preservica Implementation Group to develop procedures and workflows for digital heritage collections stewardship.
- Support digital preservation capacity development by identifying needs and opportunities and contributing to training programs.
- Maintain strong working relationships with business units, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Stay current with digital preservation theory and practice through professional reading and active participation in networks.
This is a fixed-term position that requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and maintenance of strong technical knowledge to ensure the long-term preservation of digital collections.
