Job Title: School Officer - Instrumental Music Tutor (Guitar)

Join our team as a School Officer - Instrumental Music Tutor (Guitar) and contribute to the musical development of students in our schools. This part-time, fixed-term position is available until the end of the 2025 teaching year.

About the Role

As a School Officer - Instrumental Music Tutor (Guitar), you will work under the general supervision of the Instrumental Coordinator to provide individual and small group instrumental music tuition to students. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a program of study for individual students or groups of students;
  • Setting priorities based on relevant syllabus, student goals, and skill level;
  • Monitoring student progress and reporting to parents;
  • Preparing students for external exams and performances;
  • Collaborating with other staff and the Instrumental Coordinator to promote the music program within the school and externally.
Key Accountabilities

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Providing a high-quality program of instrumental music tuition to students;
  • Monitoring student attendance and progress, and planning for the achievement of student outcomes;
  • Identifying emerging issues and mitigating risks that may impact on student progress and achievement;
  • Reporting student progress and providing advice to parents and the Instrumental Coordinator.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A diploma or degree qualification in music education or a related field;
  • Current Working with Children Suitability Card;
  • Current Driver's Licence;
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville;
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
