About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior In-House Counsel to join our team at Freyssinet Australia, reporting directly to the Managing Director. This pivotal role will involve working closely with a broad professional community within the company, providing timely or preventative legal advice and collaborating with engineers to offer pragmatic legal solutions across Australia and New Zealand.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of contract law, corporate law, and regulatory compliance, with experience in managing complex legal issues and providing practical business-focused solutions. They will also possess excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Legal Advice and Guidance: Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of issues, including contracts, compliance, employment, and dispute resolution.
  • Contract Management: Work closely with project representatives and teams to resolve contractual matters and implement best practices.
  • Negotiation and Drafting: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, and other legal documents to ensure compliance.
  • Representation: Represent the company in mediations, and other legal proceedings as required.
  • Litigation Support: Work with external counsel as needed to handle complex litigation and dispute resolution.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Professional Legal Qualifications: A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a similar in-house legal role or a reputable law firm.
  • Strong Knowledge: Strong knowledge of contract law, corporate law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Attention to Detail: A high level of attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Industry Experience: Experience of working within the construction and engineering industry would be highly regarded.
Estimated Salary: AU$150,000 - AU$200,000 per annum
