Operate Diesel Trains

Casual Qualified Locomotive Drivers are required to operate locomotives and provide operational support to ensure the safe and efficient working of freight trains.
- The role involves operating locomotives in a safe and efficient manner, carrying out shunting at yards, depots and sidings and conducting brake and continuity tests.
- Responsibilities also include preparing, stabling, turning, and assembling locomotives, as well as performing roll-by inspections and correcting minor on-road faults.
- Locomotive drivers will also be responsible for diagnosing and liaising with specialist staff for major on-road faults and failures, operating communications equipment and preparing documentation associated with train operation.
- In addition, drivers may be required to drive motor vehicles.
This is an opportunity to work on highly technologically advanced locomotives and rolling stock in the Hunter Valley coal operations.
Requirements- A Certificate IV in Train Driving is essential, along with recent practical experience working on diesel locomotives.
- Applicants should possess a basic working knowledge of safe-working procedures in a railway environment and hold a current unrestricted motor vehicle driver's license.
- Strong communication skills, a willingness to work as part of a team, and a high level of concentration are also required.
- A current NSW Safeworking qualification is mandatory, with a qualification in Train Orders for the network being desirable.
