Your Responsibilities

As a Welder at Civmec, your daily tasks will include:

  • Interpreting engineering and detailed fabrication drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Completing and passing all necessary welding qualifications in required processes.
  • Executing the welding of steel components in various positions.
  • Maintaining correct consumables, feeds, amperages, and preheating in accordance with applicable welding procedures.
  • Utilizing welding techniques such as MMAW, FCAW, MIG, and SAW.
  • Welding steel structures in sequence to prevent shrinkage and distortion.
  • Removing tack welds and restoring weld preparations as needed.
  • Conducting gouging operations when required.
  • Performing visual inspections and cleanup between runs and upon completion of each weld.
  • Assigning welder numbers to completed marks as necessary.
  • Utilizing gantry cranes and mobile lifting equipment to move steel components.
  • Maintaining accurate marking numbers on steel components.
  • Employing hand tools and welding machines to fulfill required functions.
  • Adhering to quality control systems and techniques.

Qualifications for Success

  • Recognized Welding Certificate.
  • Competency in Gantry Crane operation.
  • Dogging Certificate.
  • Previous records of passed welder qualifications (preferred but not essential).
  • Ability to pass the appropriate Weld Test.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with similar welding processes, specifications, and standards.
