Welder - Steel Fabrication Specialist

About the Role

Civmec is seeking a skilled Welder to join our Manufacturing and Fabrication Team at our Henderson Facility. As a Welder, you will be responsible for performing a variety of complex and high-profile projects, working with a world-class team, and gaining hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering and detail fabrication drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Undertake and pass all necessary weld qualifications in required weld processes.
  • Perform the welding of steel components in all positions.
  • Maintain all correct consumables, feeds, amperages, and preheat in accordance with applicable weld procedures.
  • Perform welding techniques, including MMAW, FCAW, MIG, and SAW.
  • Weld steel structures in sequence to eliminate shrinkage and distortion of steel components.
  • Remove tack welds, clean, and restore weld preparations where required.
  • Perform gouging operations if required.
  • Conduct visual inspection and clean up between runs and at the completion of each weld.
  • Assign welder number to each completed mark when required.
  • Sling and move steel components with gantry cranes, mobile lifting equipment, etc.
  • Maintain correct and accurate MARK numbers on steel components.
  • Utilize all hand tools and welding machines to perform required functions.
  • Follow quality control systems and techniques.

Requirements

  • Recognised Welding Certificate.
  • Gantry Crane competency.
  • Dogging Certificate.
  • Previous records of passed welder qualifications (preferred but not essential).
  • Ability to pass appropriate Weld Test.
  • Minimum 3 years with similar welding processes, specifications, and standards.
