Job Title: Financial Reporting Officer

At State Street, we are seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting Officer to join our team. As a key member of our financial reporting team, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and managing the financial reporting workflow of one or more client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and related working papers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of financial statements and related regulatory filings for each client relationship.
  • Answer and handle complex issues and queries, escalating as needed to meet required deliverables.
  • Be accountable for assigned tasks and deadlines for self and for the team.
  • Identify risk issues, breaches, and act in accordance with the 'risk' escalation chain and operating procedures.
  • Ensure all controls and procedures are adhered to, making recommendations for changes as needed.
  • Act as escalation point where applicable.
  • Oversee the effective coordination of activities with other departments.
  • Develop internal training classes with the training liaison.
  • Documentation – Review and correct process documentation, such as process flows, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and coach the team.
  • Understand the end-to-end process and seek support to clear out inter-process upstream/downstream dependencies, suggest process improvements, and drive projects to create efficiencies/enhance controls.
  • Ensure effective use of reporting system and make recommendations for system enhancements.
  • Work together with the regulatory client service team to effectively manage auditor/client queries.
  • Understand client requirements and guide the team towards efficiently managing its deliverables.
  • Evaluate staffing needs while continually striving for greater efficiencies.
  • Ensure all personnel are appropriately selected, thoroughly trained, and given timely and complete performance evaluation feedback.
  • Remain informed of regulatory changes and new industry and competitor developments.
Requirements:
  • Post Graduates (CA/CPA/CFA qualified) preferably or Bachelor degree with Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm relevant experience.
  • At least 7+ years of experience in a financial reporting or financial services environment.
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience is required.
  • Solid experience in statutory reporting and applications of accounting standards in accordance with IFRS and GAAP.
  • Good leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills, proven track record of efficiency creation, staff development, and people management skills.
