The Role:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Retail Fresh Produce Buyer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing a wide range of fresh produce items for our supermarket clients. Your focus will be on building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors, negotiating exclusive deals, and ensuring that our clients receive the freshest and highest quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with fresh produce suppliers, ensuring access to high-quality products and exclusive deals.
  • Sourcing: Identify and source a diverse range of fresh produce items to meet the needs of our supermarket clients, staying ahead of market trends and consumer demands.
  • Negotiations: Lead supplier negotiations to secure the best possible terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, and product quality.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate with our clients to manage inventory levels, ensuring consistent availability of products while minimizing waste.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor and maintain the quality standards of all products sourced, ensuring they meet our clients' expectations.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new product developments to keep our clients competitive.
  • Client Collaboration: Work closely with supermarket clients to understand their needs and tailor purchasing strategies accordingly.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Fresh Produce Buyer or similar role in the retail or wholesale industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the fresh produce market, including supplier networks and product seasonality.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms and exclusive deals.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret market data and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to anticipate client needs and market changes.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in fresh produce buying, sourcing, or related roles.
  • Relevant qualifications in supply chain management, procurement, communication or a related field are preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working in a consultancy environment or with multiple clients is a plus.
