About the M1 South - Blackhill to Tomago project

The southern package, a joint venture between two companies, will deliver a 10-kilometre dual carriageway motorway extension between Black Hill and Tomago. The project includes 8 bridges, a 2.6km viaduct over the Hunter River, and over 1.3 million cubic meters of earthworks, as well as new congestion-busting interchanges at Black Hill, Tarro, and Tomago.

About the role:

The team are currently looking for an experienced Tier 1 Site Engineer to join the team, based in Tarro, approximately 30 minutes from Newcastle CBD.

Reporting into the Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating on-site construction engineering activities to achieve project time and budget objectives.

This is a permanent opportunity with the plan to transfer onto another project thereafter.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the Projects Engineering and Supervisory team to ensure timely delivery of programme requirements from a cost and time perspective.
  • Managing project Quality Systems with respect to inspections, checklists, documentation, and record keeping.
  • Planning & programming.
  • Assisting with procurement & supplier management.
  • Ensuring compliance of the works undertaken in relation to technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals and standards with a focus on risk management.

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • Proven experience in working on Tier 1 Civil Infrastructure Projects.
  • Degree qualified Civil Engineer with at least 3 years post graduate experience.
  • Understanding contemporary practices in construction methodology on civil infrastructure projects.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to collaborate with different stakeholders.
  • A team player with the ability to deliver on tight deadlines.
