Job Description

Davies Stewart Consulting Pty Ltd is seeking a highly skilled accountant to fill a temporary position. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, and performing balance sheet reconciliations.

  • The role involves working closely with the finance team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Developing and implementing financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Preparing financial reports and analyses to support business decisions

Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers to ensure accurate financial statements
  • Preparing journal entries, including payroll-related, bank, accruals, prepayments, AR/AP, inventory, project, and general postings
  • Reconciling and maintaining balance sheet, revenue, and expense accounts, including bank reconciliations and addressing any discrepancies
  • Preparing account analyses upon request
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end closings

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent
  • Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Experience in general accounting and financial reporting, with knowledge of local, state, and federal laws regarding accounting, taxation, and finance
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities
  • Discretion in handling confidential matters
