Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting students and school communities in areas such as curriculum, culture, spirituality, learning, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities- Focusing on the development of Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to improve educational outcomes and support educational pathways.
- Liaising closely with classroom teachers, curriculum teams, wellbeing teams, ministry teams, and Learning Support teams.
- Promoting the intent of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle's Reconciliation Action Plan – Reflect, by engaging with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within the school.
- Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and personal commitment to Catholic Education, actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school.
- Appropriate knowledge to plan and prepare contemporary teaching programs and assessments, meeting diverse characteristics, needs, and learning styles of students.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community, establishing productive partnerships and achieving educational outcomes.
- Established and ongoing links with the local and/or wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
- Qualifications as a four-year trained teacher.
- Being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, as described under section 14 (d) of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act 1977.
- Active NESA Accreditation.
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check number.
- Completion of anaphylaxis training.
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Current unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence.
- Work in quality schools where students are nurtured, challenged, and encouraged to excel and grow.

$70,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
