Job Description:The role of a Cost Analyst is to provide high-level cost management expertise in the reporting and analysis of costs associated with mining projects.
Reporting to the Head of Cost Control, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate cost allocation, managing cost variance, and identifying areas of opportunity for cost reduction.
You will work closely with project stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate cost validation, valuation process, and integrated project cost reports.
Responsibilities:
- Monthly SAP reconciliation (cost system to SAP)
- Reconciliation of indirect cost i.e. flights, accommodation, timesheets etc.
- Ensuring correct facility and commodity coding
- Raise Capital appropriation requests (CAR)
- Support RFA and Contract Variations with cost data
- Assist with updating package monthly forecasts, trends and contingency
- Support capitalisation
- Raise Project Cost Transfers where required.
- Support managing the cost control shared mailbox.
- Report and provide cost analysis support the project.
- Ensure compliance to the project controls guidelines and procedures by the project owner's team.
- Manage cost assessments and ensure timely and accurate cost validation, and valuation process.
- Assist in maintaining the integrity of integrated project cost reports
- Support development of regular cost and change management reports, including professional analysis and commentary.
- Assist in the development and update of project cash flow forecasting
- Supports compliance with standardised processes, systems and tools
- Maintain the relationship with contracting and project planning stakeholders to provide an informed forecast of the packages.
- Collaborate with the planners/schedulers, contracts and estimating groups to ensure that implications of changes are well articulated and understood.
- Assist with analysing and reporting implications of changes to the IC or annual plan vs forecast.
- Provide technical support to project stakeholders
- Provide an independent assessment of the package progress and estimate at completion.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience of working on a large mining project and dealing with multiple projects at one time.
- Advanced level skills in a recognised cost system.
- Good level excel spreadsheet skills to verify & crosscheck data accuracy across systems.
- Familiarity with running reports for extraction of information from SAP.
- Self-starter with ability to drive and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a tight schedule to meet reporting cut offs.
- Team player with ability to work closely with project members cutting across levels.
- 5+ years of experience in project controls delivery.
