The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the position of Cultural Safety Project Lead in Morwell. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in creating culturally safe environments for Aboriginal staff and clients accessing our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement culturally safe practices and policies to ensure a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and deliver training programs that promote cultural safety and awareness.
  • Lead the Strengthening Cultural Safety assessment and action planning process, working closely with the Aboriginal Advisory Group and Hub Leadership Group.
  • Engage with the Strengthening Cultural Safety State-wide Coordinator and the state-wide network to share best practices and learn from others.
  • Build and maintain relationships with staff, clients, and community members to promote cultural safety and inclusion.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values and principles of VACCA, including cultural safety and self-determination.
  • Strong understanding of the functions of The Orange Door and relevant training programs.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate cultural discussions and training sessions with staff at all levels.
  • Experience working in a team environment, with a focus on collaboration, knowledge sharing, and peer support.
  • Relevant qualification or minimum 5 years of professional practice experience in family violence services, child and family services, or broader social services.
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination and Working with Children's Check (or willingness to obtain).
