An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Horticulture Apprentice to join our team. As a key member of our Open Spaces team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the presentation and beauty of our city's open spaces.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the Open Spaces team with practical skills in parks and reserve maintenance. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in various areas including turf/sportsfield maintenance, greenkeeping, nursery, tree maintenance, and bush regeneration.
As part of your apprenticeship, you will complete a Certificate III in Horticulture Course at Yallah TAFE. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in this rewarding career.
This is more than just a trade; it's an opportunity to develop valuable skills and qualifications that will benefit you throughout your career. Upon completing your apprenticeship, you will have four years of practical experience and formal qualifications.
Our continuing commitment to expanding our workforce capacity through our Cadet, Apprentice and Traineeship (CAT) program aims to create job opportunities and a talent pipeline for specialized roles.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the Open Spaces team with practical skills in parks and reserve maintenance.
- Gain experience in various areas including turf/sportsfield maintenance, greenkeeping, nursery, tree maintenance, and bush regeneration.
- Complete a Certificate III in Horticulture Course at Yallah TAFE.
- Develop valuable skills and qualifications that will benefit you throughout your career.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you will need to have the following skills and qualifications:
- Pre-placement Medical examination.
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card) prior to commencement.

- Temporary Full time up to 4 years.
- 38 hours per week with access to a 9 Day-fortnight.
- Salary range from $601.70 per week to $827.40 per week.
- Plus 12% superannuation.
