ENGIE ENERGY MARKETING AUSTRALIA PTY LTD is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join its Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) business unit in Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic legal input into all aspects of the GEMS ANZ business activities and projects, delivering timely, sound and pragmatic advice on legal and compliance matters.

The role will suit an experienced legal professional who will thrive in a commercial environment, supporting a growth agenda as a trusted partner to senior leadership while developing sustainable relationships with key external stakeholders and business partners of GEMS ANZ.

The main areas of focus for the role include supporting the development of new business and related infrastructure, green products, gas supply, transportation and storage agreements, legal onboarding, derivatives transaction support, and monitoring and adapting to Australian regulatory developments.

The successful candidate will have several years' experience as a lawyer in Australia or other suitable common law jurisdiction with significant post-qualification experience in a relevant domain, substantial transactional experience with top-tier law firms, financial services providers, and/or leading commodities firms, and previous in-house legal experience (including secondments).

Key responsibilities will include developing and executing comprehensive legal strategies and solutions to facilitate the commercial objectives of the GEMS business in Australia and New Zealand, working closely with front officers to contribute to business objectives through providing first-class legal and regulatory advice, exercising sound professional judgment in identifying issues that need reference to management and/or colleagues, and advising on legal and related issues as they arise in day-to-day trading/marketing activities.
