About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced lawyer to join our Australian Competition and Regulatory team as an Associate. The successful candidate will have a strong background in competition law and a passion for working with clients to navigate complex regulatory issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising corporate clients on competition issues arising in merger clearances and seeking clearance of domestic, cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transactions from the ACCC.
  • Providing advice on all aspects of competition and consumer law to support clients' business success within the bounds of the law.
  • Supporting commercial clients or the ACCC with investigations into anti-competitive conduct, cartels (including criminal cartels) and Australian Consumer Law contraventions.
  • Advising a range of technology clients on the application of regulatory frameworks in areas such as telecommunications, digital platforms, media law, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
  • Supporting clients like renewable developers, energy networks, generators and retailers with the nation-wide transition to a net-zero economy, supporting their navigation of regulatory frameworks and novel contract structures.
  • Assisting clients with licensing, network access and price control in regulated industries, including ports, rail, airports, and shipping.
Requirements
  • + years PQE experience gained within a leading law firm or regulator, with predominant exposure to competition and regulatory and/or consumer law matters.
  • Commerciality, curiosity, and an enthusiastic and proactive attitude.
  • Exceptional communication skills and strong ability to work well in a team.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, analytical, technical and drafting skills.
