Job Title: Senior Competition Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Competition Lawyer to join our legal team at D'Arcy Weil. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert legal advice on competition law and regulatory matters for a leading Australian telecommunications company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice on competition law and related regulatory issues to support business operations.
  • Advise on mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions from a competition law perspective.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) regulations.
  • Conduct legal risk assessments related to competition and advise on mitigation strategies.
  • Represent the company in interactions with regulatory bodies and during legal proceedings.
  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents with a focus on competition compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement competition compliance programs.
  • Monitor and analyse changes in competition law and regulations, advising on potential impacts.
  • Provide training and guidance to business units on competition law and best practices.
  • Work closely with external legal counsel on complex cases and regulatory matters.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with admission to practice law in Australia.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience specialising in competition law, preferably within the telecommunications or energy sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian competition law and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven track record in handling complex legal matters and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
