Role Description:

As a skilled nurse, you will provide holistic and comprehensive nursing support to participants throughout their journey with the Withdrawal Unit enhancing the provision of primary health care within a specialist AOD service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting clinical observations, including withdrawal assessment using relevant assessment tools.
  • Provision of low-medical support including medication administration, basic wound care, health assessment and screening.
  • Development of health-related withdrawal treatment plans in collaboration with participants and the broader Bridge House team.
  • Providing trauma informed, person-centred care to participants with histories of complex trauma and co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with GP and Nurse Practitioners providing medical support and oversight to Bridge House.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Nursing and a current Div 1 certificate.
  • Practical experience in AOD sector service delivery, with an understanding of addictive behaviour and drugs, both illicit and licit.
  • Demonstrated skills in triage, medical assessment, decision making and providing appropriate nursing interventions during crisis.
  • Demonstrated competence in infection control procedures.
  • Competent computer skills to use Microsoft office programs such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and Sharepoint, and to learn and use TSAs documentation software.
