Job Overview

A dynamic and experienced accounting professional is required to drive continuous improvement and lead the financial services team.

This pivotal role will play a key part in delivering high-quality financial management across the organisation, reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer.

About the Role
  • Lead and coordinate the accounting team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee statutory compliance and drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Manage annual and monthly financial reporting, budgets, and external audit processes.
  • Provide financial advice and support to business units, management, and Council.
  • Champion best practice in accounting, systems integrity, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure integrity of the general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate annual financial statements, audit processes, and budget preparation.
  • Manage the investment portfolio, loans, grants, and asset accounting.
  • Lead system improvements and upgrades.
  • Support long-term financial planning and policy development.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
Requirements
  • Accounting or finance degree.
  • CPA or CA qualification (or working towards).
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within Local Government.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, statutory compliance, and accounting standards.
  • Experience with TechnologyOne Ci Anywhere and Civica Authority desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
