Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced legal policy officer to join our team on an anticipated 6-12 month contract. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of policy and legislation related to levies legislation at APS5 and APS6 levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of policy and legislation, including reviewing existing legislation and historical policies.
  • Prepare drafting instructions for the Office of Parliamentary Counsel and support the preparation of internal and ministerial briefings.
  • Lead the development of policy and legislation, conduct research and analysis, and manage industry consultation processes at the EL1 level.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in legal policy and/or legislative development.
  • Excellent research and analytical thinking skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with drafting instructions, policy papers, and briefing materials is highly desirable.
