About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Rulemaking Specialist to join our team at the State of Washington. As a key member of our department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing environmental policies and regulations that protect the state's natural resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement environmental policies and regulations that align with state and federal laws.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, and community groups, to ensure that policies and regulations are effective and equitable.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform policy decisions and ensure that regulations are based on the best available science.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, and community groups.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to other departments and agencies on environmental policy and regulatory issues.
Requirements
  • 8 years of experience in environmental policy, regulation, or a related field.
  • Experience in developing and implementing environmental policies and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct research and analysis to inform policy decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in environmental law, policy, or regulation.
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, and community groups.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Experience in project management and coordination.
