Senior Mental Health Consultant

The Senior Mental Health Consultant will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality clinical services to consumers of St Vincent's Health Australia. This position is accountable for providing expert psychiatric care, contributing to service evaluation and research, and promoting ongoing learning and professional development in psychiatry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and treatment of referred consumers and organisation of psychiatric follow-up as required.
- Secondary consultation and provision of information to general hospital staff about psychiatric disorders, treatments, mental health services, and advice on the management of difficult/complex behaviours.
- Support and monitoring of consumers who require admission for medical/surgical treatment.
- Education of staff on mental health-related issues.
- Participation in mental health-related projects, policy development, and research.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent.
- Fellowship of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
- Registration with AHPRA.
- Advanced Training Certificate in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
