Join a dynamic team as an Intelligence Stream graduate and play a vital role in advancing Australia's interests and protecting its people. You will work on topics that matter, influencing important decisions to shape the future of intelligence and impacting the lives of fellow Australians.
The Australian Government Graduate Program (AGGP) offers a unique opportunity to serve the nation, progress your career, and work with dedicated colleagues in a globally engaged community. As part of the National Intelligence Community (NIC), you will have access to stimulating work, on-the-job learning, and development opportunities.
- You will commence a full-time position in an Australian Government department or agency, with the potential to advance to a higher classification and salary after completing the 12-month program.
- You will undertake rotations in different work areas, gaining diverse experience and skills.
- You will have access to comprehensive on-the-job and formal learning and development opportunities, helping you grow professionally and personally.
As an Intelligence Stream graduate, you will be part of a select group of professionals working on critical national security issues. Your work will contribute to shaping the future of intelligence and informing key decisions.
The NIC is comprised of various departments and agencies, each contributing to the country's intelligence efforts. These include the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO), Department of Home Affairs (Home Affairs), Office of National Intelligence (ONI), and others.
Successful applicants will be matched with a suitable placement in one of these agencies or departments. This ensures that graduates are placed in roles that align with their skills and interests.
You can nominate your preferred placement when applying for the program. The selection process typically includes online testing, video interviews, assessment centres, and matching with suitable placements.
Most graduate roles are based in Canberra, although some may be available in other major cities and regional centres.
To be eligible for the program, you must:
- Be an Australian citizen.
- Have completed a Bachelor degree or higher by 31 December 2026.
- Have obtained a valid Australian Government security clearance once accepted into the program.
- Be willing to undergo any required police, character, health, or other checks.
A comprehensive security clearance process is in place to ensure that all candidates possess the highest level of trustworthiness and commitment to Australia, its values, and democratic system of government.
BenefitsThe AGGP Intelligence Stream offers a range of benefits, including:
- A competitive salary package.
- Ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Diverse work environments and experiences.
- A collaborative and supportive team culture.
Applicants must undergo a rigorous security clearance process to ensure they meet the necessary standards. This includes providing detailed information about their personal and professional history.
Once cleared, graduates are required to maintain their security clearance throughout their employment. Further information about security obligations will be provided during the recruitment process.
