Job Description

AWS Design Engineering team is seeking a highly skilled Physical Security Architect/Engineer to collaborate with our enterprise data centre design team, designing data centres that maximize the effectiveness of the physical security program. The role involves designing extra-low voltage systems, working with the data centre architectural and engineering team to ensure security best practices are observed, drafting new systems into the design team's build plans, and coordinating with regional and local physical security leaders to understand new building and security system designs, adhering to the AWS approved parts list.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer low voltage systems.
  • Collaborate with design teams using Blue Beam and other drafting technologies to produce designs in Revit/CAD.
  • Create specifications and scope of work documentation templates for local project managers to use for vendor bids.
  • Provide technical and design support for local physical security teams.
  • Coordinate with all disciplines in the design process of a new building (architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, IT...).
  • Supervise and approve all design deliverables developed by the local physical security team for projects at each milestone.
  • Analyze, accept, or reject alternate designs and mitigation measures developed by the local physical security team when the standard design cannot be applied.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to support the implementation of new technologies.
  • Work regionally and support the global PSA team to ensure alignment on decisions and standards.
  • Domestic and international travel for up to a week at a time.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Architectural, Electrical Engineering, or Physical Security or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years' experience in physical security system design and engineering, 5+ years' experience with one or more drafting technologies such as AutoCad, BlueBeam, and others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Speaking and writing functional English. Mastery of a second language is a plus.
  • Physical Security Design experience in corrections, military, government, or museum environments.
  • Experience living abroad, extensive travel, or demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Personal network of international security technology professionals.
  • PSP, CPP, PMP Certification.
  • CPTED Certification.
