Monash University is offering a PhD scholarship in the field of green methanol production with water electrolysis. This project aims to develop a cost-effective and sustainable method for producing green methanol from forestry biomass waste and hydrogen.
About the ProjectThis PhD project offers a unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research at the forefront of sustainable energy production. As a PhD candidate, you will work closely with industry experts from HAMR Energy, gaining invaluable insights into the practical challenges and innovations driving the field.
Key Responsibilities- Develop state-of-the-art process simulations and life cycle assessments using advanced tools like the Monash Environmental Impact and Energy Assessment tool.
- Conduct hands-on research in the development of green methanol production from forestry biomass waste and hydrogen.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team dedicated to advancing green methanol production and reducing carbon emissions.
- Australian (or equivalent international) Honours or Master's degree in a relevant field, with a significant research component and first-class honours/H1 awarded.
- Strong background in chemical engineering, sustainable energy, or a related field.
- Experience in process simulation and life cycle assessment.
- Proficiency in software tools like Aspen Plus or HYSYS or DWSIM for process simulation, SimaPro or GaBi for life cycle assessment, and Excel or Python for data analysis.
