Caterpillar is a global leader in the manufacturing industry, and our digital strategy is driving innovation across the company.

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to join a specialist team focused on building a scalable data platform.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in backend development with languages such as Java, Scala, and Python. They should also have a proven track record working in teams to develop large, complex applications.

A deep understanding of streaming and batch data processing, ideally with Apache Spark or similar, is essential. Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) is highly valued, as well as familiarity with data lake/lakehouse architectures, especially Delta Lake.

Responsibilities include designing and implementing robust, scalable components for ingesting, processing, and persisting high-frequency telemetry data. Collaboration with data scientists to host, orchestrate, and optimize workloads in Python, Scala, and Java is also required.

The successful candidate must be able to drive modernization efforts, including containerization and deployment on Kubernetes, integration with S3-compatible object stores, and evaluating emerging technologies to optimize performance and scalability.
