Employment Opportunity: Operational Director, Immune Health Centre

An exceptional leadership position is available for an experienced operational director to join the Immune Health Centre at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the Position

The Immune Health Centre has a global mission to improve lives of people with immune diseases by advancing our understanding and treatment of the immune system. The centre, co-led by WEHI and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, brings together leading Australian and international researchers to accelerate discoveries into underlying features and markers of immune health.

The Operational Director will provide strategic direction and leadership to achieve the Immune Health Centre's vision, delivering major milestones, and fostering a culture of collaboration. This role will work closely with WEHI's Professional Services team to establish the operating model for the Centre and oversee day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational strategies to support the centre's mission and goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to centre staff to ensure effective delivery of programs and services.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including researchers, clinicians, and industry partners.
  • Oversee budget management, contract administration, and human resources functions.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in a senior operational role, preferably in a research or healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with ability to analyze complex issues and develop innovative solutions.

Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary package, including Research Support Employee Level 10 ($166,498 – $180,221), up to 17% superannuation, and attractive salary packaging options.
