Funeral Director/Embalmer Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Funeral Director/Embalmer.

The ideal candidate will have a current Funeral Director and Embalmer dual license, as well as industry experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Arrange conferences with deceased next of kin, confirming contact information and scheduling appointments.
  • Perform removals or transfers, updating status in proprietary software.
  • Facilitate Arrangements Conferences, promoting funeral, cemetery, and crematory services and merchandise.
  • Transition Arrangement Conference to Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor to present cemetery property and merchandise options.
  • Review and authorize merchandise and service contract revisions.
Directing Services:
  • Confirm authorization to proceed with service arrangements and preside over visitation, funeral, or graveside services.
  • Visually inspect deceased, adjust casket dressing, and communicate concerns to preparation staff.
  • Interact with the family to fulfill death care requests, obtaining leads for pre-need services.
Event Planning:
  • Perform event planning responsibilities, including resource planning and ordering music, flowers, or catering.
  • Produce MeM products, scanning photos, ordering memorabilia or stationery, creating electronic presentations, writing obituaries, and creating on-line memorials.
  • Prepare event rooms, set up chairs, tables, flowers, guest books, and décor.
  • Clean event areas, storing items properly, and identifying property in need of repair.
Embalming:
  • Care for deceased in a respectful manner, verifying identification and embalming authorization.
  • Clean and embalm bodies, using scalpels, pumps, tubes, and equipment to replace bodily fluids/waste with embalming fluids.
  • Dress caskets, lay deceased, and update status in proprietary software.
  • Maintain preparation room cleanliness, dispose of hazardous waste, and promote a safe work environment.
General:
  • Work under general guidance, collaborating with peers or manager for assistance and guidance.
  • Exhibit accountability for behaviors, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
