The Australian Natural Resources Equity Research Team seeks a highly talented professional to lead their team with expertise in Metals & Mining.

A key aspect of this role is leading coverage of mining companies across various subsectors and supervising Analysts focused on Energy and Rare-Earths / Minerals Sands in Australia. This will involve collaborating with globally ranked, leading regional and global natural resources research teams based in HK, London, and NYC.
The successful candidate will have access to world-leading Commodities Research and support from the regional and global platform, including highly ranked Economic and ESG Research. They will be responsible for producing highly differentiated thematic and strategic equity research and compelling tactical investment ideas for our sophisticated global and local client base.
To achieve this, the ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset, developed commercial acumen, technical skills to perform complex forward-looking modeling, industry research, and valuation projections. Additionally, they will have influencing and communication skills to present compelling and actionable investment theses to internal and external audiences.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead Analyst responsibility for the Bank's Australian Resources coverage, producing high-quality thematic and company-specific strategic equity research and compelling tactical investment ideas.
- Leadership, development, coaching, and mentoring of a team of analysts across Energy and various industry subsectors to develop an industry-leading and well-ranked team.
- Development of complex forward-looking modeling, industry research, and valuation projections to drive differentiated and compelling research for our clients.
- Deepening and expanding strong relationships in the Australian Resources Sector with companies' investor relations, company management, other industry participants, and institutional investors.
- Collaboration with domestic, regional, and global colleagues on research projects, adding distinctive and unique views to enhance the overall Research platform offering.
- Risk assessment and management adherence to local and global regulations and firm policies to mitigate regulatory, operational, and reputational risk.
- Relevant work experience preferably gained within banking, sell-side equity research, buy-side investment analysis, or corporate experience forming a strong foundational knowledge to excel in the role.
- Deep technical skills across company and industry analysis, business acumen, and strategic mindset to develop compelling research.
- Exceptional communication skills to influence and deliver differentiated and novel investment theses, guidance, and executable investment ideas to sophisticated local and global institutional investors.
- Cultural alignment as a culture carrier for the Australian and Global Resources team and the broader Australian Research team.
- Meticulous attention to detail, drive to deliver results, and willingness to take responsibility for outcomes are essential.
