Job Description:

The Virtual Health Clinician plays a vital role in supporting individuals with their health concerns through the Healthdirect Helpline.

You will provide guidance to callers who are unsure if they should see a doctor or manage their condition at home.

The Healthdirect Helpline is open 24/7, offering health-related advice over the phone.

  • Providing health information and assessing symptoms.
  • Conducting comprehensive telephone assessments.
  • Recommending the appropriate time and place of care.
  • Referring callers to other services such as GP clinics and virtual emergency departments.

Your expertise can make a significant impact on the health and well-being of our community.

About You:

You are a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse, driven by a passion for delivering exceptional virtual care.

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least 3 years of full-time (or equivalent) clinical experience within the last 5 years.
  • A varied nursing background involving substantial public contact.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-pressure situations across all age groups and clinical presentations.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal: ability to communicate with compassion and professionalism.
  • A high affinity with using computer systems, including telehealth platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Motivation to make a difference in a flexible, home-based environment.
