Job Description

This is a fixed-term, full-time position that will commence as soon as possible and conclude on 31 December 2026.

\

The Department of Education has partnered with the Australian Government Department of Education to develop and deliver the Scaling Up Success in Remote Schools Program.

\

The program consists of two key components:

\
  • \
  • Targeted teaching – evidence-based strategies, quality materials, and regular measurement of progress.\
  • Community engagement – developing extended learning programs and related initiatives in collaboration with the community.\
\

The Role

\

This role involves providing strategic guidance and support to principals, school staff, and the project team in implementing student attendance strategies and ensuring policy and legislative compliance.

\

The successful applicant will be responsible for implementing and managing regional-level initiatives related to student and community engagement.

\

This role facilitates professional development and the sharing of best practices within the Regional School Network.

\

The successful applicant will work collaboratively to enhance the development of regional-level interagency and cross-sectoral links in relation to engagement.

\

Responsibilities

  2. Support schools in developing and implementing effective community engagement procedures to foster positive relationships between communities and schools.\
  3. Provide strategic advice to schools on developing and sustaining community engagement procedures to foster positive relationships between communities and schools.\
  4. Implement and manage system-level initiatives related to student and community engagement at the regional level.\
  5. Facilitate professional development and the sharing of best practices within the Regional School Network.\
  6. Promote and maintain partnerships between schools and their local communities.\
  7. Develop and implement strategies to enhance student attendance and engagement.\
  8. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement initiatives.\
  9. Identify opportunities for collaborative working across different agencies and sectors.\
  10. Ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislation.\

Required Skills and Qualifications

\

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • \
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid visa with relevant work rights for the duration of the appointment.\
  • Consent to undergo a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department's Screening Unit before commencing employment.\
  • A current Working with Children Check.\
  • A current C-class licence.\
  • An accredited 4WD qualification.\

  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of community and school engagement, as well as the ability to deliver relevant training.\
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and conceptual skills, illustrating an ability to identify and clarify issues leading to the development and/or implementation of regional strategies and programs.\
