This role is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the engineering sector by fostering student engagement and crafting programs/initiatives aimed at enhancing skills and cultivating a sense of community among participants.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing community engagement initiatives and activities targeting cohorts currently underrepresented in the engineering sector, including women, non-binary and gender diverse people, those from low socioeconomic status (SES) backgrounds, and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

Key responsibilities include establishing and managing strategic partnerships within the university, overseeing the development and implementation of project plans and schedules, monitoring and tracking progress, providing consultative advice and strategic guidance across the faculty on issues relating to the attraction and retention of students from underrepresented cohorts in Engineering.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent extensive experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience, preferably within the higher education sectors or working closely with individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fostering student engagement and crafting programs/initiatives aimed at enhancing skills and cultivating a sense of community among participants.
  • A passion for the engineering sector and equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Substantial project and event coordination experience including ability to plan, implement and co-ordinate complex projects and report on outcomes.
  • Engagement and stakeholder management skills including the ability to establish long-term relationships with student, academic and external stakeholders, with a strong track record in delivery of successful outcomes.
