Lead a High-Performing Team in Regulatory Policy

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Advisor to lead our Regulatory Policy Branch in the Justice Policy and Reform Division of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing policy and legislation related to liquor, gambling, fair trading, and body corporate regulatory frameworks. Your expertise will be crucial in empowering consumers and minimizing harm while ensuring markets are safe, fair, and responsible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex projects and supervise staff in the preparation of work within a complex policy and legislative agenda.
  • Provide strategic and evidence-based policy advice to senior executives on specialized projects.
  • Develop and implement policy and legislation related to liquor, gambling, fair trading, and body corporate regulatory frameworks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of policy and legislation.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in policy and/or legislation development.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and within a team.
  • Qualifications in law, public policy, or other relevant degrees.
