Truck Driver Position

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Truck Driver to join our team.


The successful candidate will play a key part in maintaining the smooth operation of a large-scale farming business that prioritises sustainable and regenerative practices.


This role involves transporting livestock and other agricultural products across multiple farm sites, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.


The ideal candidate will have experience in agricultural haulage and enjoy working in a dynamic rural environment.



Responsibilities
  • Livestock Transport & Handling: Safely operate and manoeuvre livestock trucks, ensuring proper positioning for stress-free loading and unloading of cattle, sheep, and other livestock.


  • Follow Animal Welfare Guidelines: Minimise distress during transport, including appropriate penning, ventilation, and handling techniques.


  • Loading & Unloading Procedures: Operate hydraulic lifts, ramps, and livestock crates to safely load/unload animals, ensuring smooth transitions to avoid injuries.


  • Monitor Livestock Behaviour: Adjust techniques to maintain calm and prevent agitation during loading/unloading.


  • Adhere to Biosecurity Measures: Clean and disinfect trailers between loads to prevent disease spread.


  • Vehicle Safety & Maintenance: Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of livestock trucks, checking brakes, flooring, gates, ventilation, and fluid levels to ensure animal safety.


  • Report Mechanical Issues: Prevent breakdowns that could jeopardise livestock welfare by reporting mechanical issues promptly.


  • Ensure Compliance: Adhere to Chain of Responsibility (CoR) regulations for heavy vehicle operations.


  • Load Planning & Compliance: Calculate livestock weights and pen distributions to comply with road weight limits and animal density regulations.


  • Verify NLIS Tags: Ensure accurate records for biosecurity and supply chain compliance by verifying NLIS tags before transport.


  • Inspect Livestock: Report any concerns to farm management prior to loading, ensuring the health and well-being of animals.


  • Coordinate with Farm Staff: Collaborate with station managers, shearers, and feedlot operators to align transport schedules with mustering, sales, or processing timelines.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Relevant Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time experience in truck driving.


  • Relevant Licensing: Hold relevant licenses and qualifications.


  • Safety Awareness: Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and attention to detail.
