Cardiac Nursing Career Path

The Cardiac Novice Program is a structured support and education initiative designed for nurses new to cardiac care.

This program aims to build foundational competence and confidence in managing cardiac patients at a hospital Cardiac Unit.

It is suitable for Registered and Enrolled Nurses with at least 12 months of experience in hospital settings and a particular interest in cardiac nursing.

The key components of the program include:

  • Comprehensive orientation to cardiac nursing
  • Support from experienced cardiac clinical nurses and educators
  • Ongoing professional development sessions
  • Clinical skill-building tailored to novice-level learning
  • Opportunities for reflection, case discussions, and peer support

To be eligible for this program, you must have:

  • A passion for pursuing a career in cardiac nursing
  • At least 12 months of acute nursing experience
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
  • Ability to work unsupervised, proficiently and in an organised manner during periods of high demand and activity
  • Commitment to working within a collaborative, respectful team environment
  • Ability to work all shifts over a 7-day roster
