Solution Architect

We are seeking a seasoned Solution Architect to design and govern the technical architecture of our AI-enabled developer solution using GitHub Copilot Enterprise.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a government-first initiative that combines AI, developer enablement, and secure cloud-native delivery at scale.

The successful candidate will own the design and governance of the technical architecture underpinning the GitHub Copilot solution, ensuring it is secure, scalable, supportable, and seamlessly fits within our existing enterprise architecture.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing high-level and low-level architectural artefacts (logical, physical, and integration diagrams)
  • Defining integration patterns with ATO cloud services, including Azure, Azure AD, and developer tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise)
  • Collaborating with the Security & Compliance Lead to embed security controls into all layers of the solution
  • Leading technical validation and proof-of-concept activities to de-risk critical architecture decisions
  • Providing ongoing architectural guidance to engineering, DevOps, and security teams during delivery
  • Defining and enforcing non-functional requirements (e.g., performance, resilience, observability, disaster recovery)
  • Establishing architecture governance practices and contributing to steering/assurance forums
  • Collaborating with business and product stakeholders to ensure alignment with organisational goals

To be successful in this role, you must have a proven track record of delivering secure, enterprise-grade cloud architectures—preferably in the federal space.

You will be required to possess:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Solution Architect in complex ICT programs
  • Demonstrated experience designing cloud-native solutions in Azure
  • Deep expertise in GitHub Enterprise, CI/CD, and developer tooling
  • Strong understanding of identity and access management (IAM), RBAC, and secure integration methods
  • Ability to produce high-quality architecture documentation for technical and business audiences
  • TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification (preferred)
  • Experience designing or implementing AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) frameworks
  • Experience in Agile, DevOps, and iterative delivery environments
